It was only about 2 miles and 1500' of elevation gain to the lake, but the trail is very steep for the last half mile, and we were already pretty worn out from mountain climbing that morning. The rock in the area was pretty unique, almost moon-like, and we did a little exploring before heading back down to our campsite, scaring up a mule deer along the way.
