Creationism – The Truth About Dinosaurs, Evolution and the Bible

As I travel nationwide to deliver lectures about creationism and its ties to evolution, one of the most brought up questions is that of dinosaurs. Indeed, how do these mysteriously placed ‘fossils’ fit into the facts of creationism?

Typically, these questions are wielded by wild-eyed atheist college students, whose rudimentary knowledge of introductory baccalaureate courses emboldens them to think that any Biblical account is necessarily not correct.

Even at a basic scientific standard, it is problematic to state that anything is not 100% possible. This is obvious to anyone who has studied statistics, but perhaps not the naive minds of those so quick to want to dismiss creationism.

So dinos and evolution; how do they mix? To address this question today, we’ll take a look at a video we have with my good colleague and another sent example by Dr. Kent “Dino” Hovind. It should truly be eye-opening for those whose minds aren’t quite advanced enough in knowledge to realize the truths of creationism and its dictates on evolution.

    Amen Pat! Another great article!

  • “Doctor” Kent Hovind? Seriously? The same “Dr.” Kent Hovind that is serving 10 years for tax fraud?

The same Kent Hovind that believes that x-rays are responsible for aging?

    Pfffff…

  • Pat – you have the largest collection of Coleoptera? Can’t you just say “beetles”? Afraid that makes you sound “strange”?

It does. And here I never thought I’d get to use the word “Coleopteraphilia”.

  • “National Pornographic, er Geographic”

Hi-LARIOUS! Because they show pictures of other cultures which feel that tops for women are not a moral necessity, and are mature enough to not make a big deal out of it. At least their cultures don’t HAVE pornography, that’s left to ‘civilized’ nations like America. And that makes it pornography. I see what you did there.

Then he claims that God wrote Genesis 1 “on a rock with his finger” and that it’s “part of the Ten Commandments”. He can’t even get THE BIBLE right!

Which, incidentally, was not written BY God, but by MEN who believed they did so FOR God. Whether or not this is true is not something I concern myself with overmuch.

Furthermore, where does Genesis 1:6 say there was water in the atmosphere? It seems far more likely that this was meant to mean that He created land in the midst of the ocean. You know, like the kind we have now. I am, by the way, only assuming Creationism for the benefit of your closed minds, who will just shut down the minute I start talking about the Big Bang or Stable-State theories. Also, his claims about ice suspended by Earth’s magnetic field are absurd, although “clouds” would be a reasonable claim.

His claims about the oceans being under the crust (“subterranean water”) are self-defeating, because according to him, THERE WAS NO GROUND YET (subterranean literally meaning “below the ground/terrain”).

Unfortunately, his claim that dinosaurs were 900 year old lizards falls through because the dinosaurs fossils we have do not resemble any reptiles currently living (except crocs, sharks, etc.), which means you would have to accept that their descendants evolved into modern reptiles. Quite a dilemma, that…

I’m glad to hear Billy Graham’s remarks about dinosaurs, they have restored my faith that there is some good left in mainstream Christianity.

Around 7:30 in the video, HE ADMITS EVOLUTION! He acknowledges that horses and zebras had a common ancestor. How about that?

    NOAH’S ARK DIMENSION (from CreationTips.com/arksize):
Noah’s Ark was taller than a 3-story building and had a deck area the size of 36 lawn tennis courts. Its length was 300 cubits (450 feet, or 135 meters); its width was 50 cubits (75 feet, or 22.5 meters); it had three stories and its height was 30 cubits (45 feet, or 13.5 meters).

To rephrase those dimensions, it’s length and width were about 1.5 times those of a North American football field (otherwise known as a “sissies playing rugby in armor field”), and it 3 decks, each approximately 5 yards tall (which isn’t much of a height restriction, really). So he basically had

the surface area of 4.5 N.A. football fields to fit all the animals on. I can’t say whether or not they WOULD fit, but those are the dimensions.

“They believe nothing exploded and made everything, the Big Bang”. First of all, that theory comes from FATHER Georges LeMaitre, a French monk, not from atheists. Second of all, “nothing” didn’t explode, it was a gravitic singularity containing all the mass of the universe.
@9:52 – The volume of oxygen the book refers to is the Oxygen IN THE ROCKS. That’s why it starts at zero and then climbs as the rocks absorb Oxygen from Earth’s early atmosphere.

Life is not said to have appeared from rocks, but from chance interactions between the numerous chemicals in the “primordial soup” (appropriately enough, today, Feb. 19th, is Chaoflux, which is celebrated by reverting to primordial ooze. I’m missing my holiday for this).

@11:30 – once again, acknowledges evolution. In fact, claims evolution happened significantly faster than scientists do. Somehow, he STILL gets it wrong…

@ ~12:00 – Hovin complete fails to answer the professor’s question, at which point he, like any other rational human being who tries talking to people like Hovin, becomes deeply depressed and loses all faith in the potential of humanity.

We don’t believe that living beings came from the rocks in the rain, we believe inert chemicals were extracted/eroded from the rocks which then formed the prebiotic soup.

“The question is ‘DID they go extinct?’” The answer, for those who care to LOOK AROUND is yes.

Based on his comments on public schools and other subjects, Hovind is very good at NOT answering questions.

Educating the poor to give them a chance at a better life is obviously Communist perversion. Hell, Jesus didn’t need no educashun now did he? Of course , Hovind is clearly moneyed (or WAS before he was sentenced to 10 years for tax evasion), so it’s really not his problem.

You know what? I’m 20 minutes in, and already sick of correcting “Dr. Dino’s” every mistake. There’s that.

  • I’m sorry for the awkward formatting there, I wrote it in a text editor so I could keep it for later additions, and it didn’t seem to parse well in the comment system here.

Ok so every word of the bible is literally the word of gOD, and he only created two people, adam and eve and the bible tells u that incest is a sin then how and the hell did we get to where we are now.Are u bible freaks trying to tell me that we are all inbread hill billies and that adam and eve were having sex with their kids, thats sick and so is anyone who promotes the bible. not to mention that if we all came from the same parents then why is there different races, because without evolution which u brain washed idiots don’t understand we would all be the same race. U see if the earth is only 5 or 6,000 years old that woulden’t be enough time to explain the differences we see all over the globe. will u people please start reading books other than the bible u can start with the ORIGIN OF SPECIES im sure some of u could understand it i did when i was 10, thats when i realized that religon was an attempt to control my mind when will u wake up SOON I HOPE

  • Questioner

Does it not strike you as suspicious, if not simply interesting, that the earlier books of the Bible make no or very few references to dinosaurs living with humans? If they indeed existed with humans, why the heck wouldn’t someone write about it? The only possible references to them are in vague terms (Leviathon, anyone?) that could quite possibly be other large animals.

  • Frankly, I’m quite shocked at the moment of ignorance coming from a country that apprently has a reputation for high education. Your website is positively moronic and you are completely delusional.

I suggest you read up on:

    1. Radioactive dating
    2. Vertebrate palaeontology
    3. Earth history

Good luck, you feeble excuse for a metazoan.
