Miley Cyrus Slant Eye Asian Pose Infuriates Asian Groups
Yesterday a picture surfaced of teenage pop sensation Miley Cyrus and several of her friends, including a young Asian man. Due to them wearing crosses and having a good time, it seemed pretty clear that they were having fun while spreading the good word. Asian groups are crying foul though, citing the Miley Cyrus slant eye Asian picture is very offensive.
According to sources at Reuters, the OCA (who looks out out Pacific Asians, or the Island types) demanded an apology from Miley and had this to say:
“Not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimized the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American friends,” OCA executive director George Wu in a statement issued on Monday.
Wu said the fact that an Asian friend was included in the photo “does not make it acceptable.”
I think it’s horrible to prejudge Miley as she was clearly only having a good time, engaging in the type of friendship that’s commonly associated with doing missionary work.
The fact that these interest groups are so quick to stereotype and make accusations is truly sad and not befitting morality.
