The Dalai Lama delivered a very moving speech today about the woes the Chinese have inflicted on Tibet. According to the wise and sage Dalai Lama, China has caused ‘Hell on Earth’ in Tibet.
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the uprising where the Dalai Lama tried to stand up to the Chinese for their inhumane treatment of Tibetans. After his failed attempts, he was forced into exile but to this day remains peacefully vigilant in both telling of the atrocities and genocide of Tibetan culture the Chinese are attempting to enact through their methods and laws:
“These (Chinese law and methods) thrust Tibetans into such depths of suffering and hardship that they literally experienced hell on earth.” “The immediate result of these campaigns was the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Tibetans.”
The Dalai Lama went on to warn a crowd of about 2,000 people in India about the danger of China making the Tibetan identity and people go extinct, taking time to add the emotions his people have suffered due to Chinese oppression:
“Even today, Tibetans in Tibet live in constant fear and the Chinese authorities remain constantly suspicious of them.
Despite all the pain and suffering, the Dalai Lama still teaches and encourages only peaceful protests and campaigning for rights, saying that the “justice of Tibetan cause will prevail if we continue to tread a path of truth and nonviolence.”
