Leading media figure Bill O’Reilly attacked a YouTube video this week, reeling after he witnessed the footage known as ‘David After Dentist’.

The video was allegedly filmed by a parent of a boy named “David”, after he was put under mild sedation for a dental procedure. The video became rather popular and before longs, people became very upset and critical that the video was uploaded to YouTube, criticizing the parent’s in the process.

Here is O’Reilly’s response to the situation:

    • “Rather popular”? No, it was EXPLOSIVELY POPULAR. America loved this video. It’s had MILLIONS of positive responses, and only a couple thousand negative. The people who don’t like it and are criticizing the parents are a very slim minority — you’re like the voters who voted for someone other than Bob Dole, Bill Clinton or Ross Perot… you’re not even the Ross Perot voters in this analogy because you’re so few in numbers. Just one of the official videos has 214,762 positive “like” votes and a mere 14,161 negative “dislike” votes. That means only 0.06% of viewers disliked/criticized it, and a whopping 93% LOVED it. The numbers are essentially the same in all of the other posting of it on Youtube and various websites. It also has 74,900,623 views! And you call it “rather popular” and say people a “critical”. No. People love this video, and it’s just a few loons like O’Reilly all mad about it. Was it “child exploitation” to put the Olsen twins on “Full House”, or Niel Patrick Harris on “Dukey Houser”? Hell no. David is even enjoying his minor celebrity status, and the money it has made is going towards his college fund and taking care of him and his little brother. People need to get real. This is an innocent video America finds adorable, and it’s just a few wackos moaning about it.

O’Reilly was also WAY out of line and acting loony. Devore shows in that video how to be a good father when your kid is a little worried about something he/she doesn’t understand. O’Reilly also annoyed me how he only showed a tiny part of the video to mislead the audience (the ones who never saw the video). He ONLY shows the part where David is wiggling his head around, looking a little creeped out, and then stands up and yells. O’Reilly stops it right there, strategically, and starts attacking Devore. Why? Because he didn’t want first-time viewers of the video to know that David calmly sits back down and says “I don’t feel tired,”, making it obvious his scream was just acting out from the drug, NOT a scream of terror or for help. That’s called unethical journalism and contextualism. O’Reilly always gets mad when people take his words out of context, yet he does it all the time. Selectively showing a tiny part of a video to mislead people is just as bad as selecting a few words from a statement to mislead. I could do the same thing to O’Reilly. Just wait for him to make some point in video, saying something like “[...] then he stood up before everyone and said ‘I am a white supremest’, in a challenging tone.”. I could cut the beginning and end off that clip and mislead people into thinking O’Reilly just confessed to being a white supremest. But I wouldn’t do that, because it’s unethical and filthy. O’Reilly obviously knows no such bounds.

I could cut the beginning and end off that clip and mislead people into thinking O’Reilly just confessed to being a white supremest. I could quote him all over the web and make people think I had proof he was racist. But I *wouldn’t* do that, because it’s unethical and filthy. O’Reilly obviously knows no such bounds anymore.

I used to be a big fan of O’Reilly, but now he’s growing more and more desperate and more and more crazy. Doing things like calling high school kids “pinhead” to their faces on live TV and attacking loving fathers like Devore… Christians like us shouldn’t backup and condone behaviors like these. Instead we should all be praying for O’Reilly to see the error of his ways. I sincerely hope he is not getting Alzheimer’s or going crazy. His behavior seems so irrational though. God bless him, and everyone else, but his behavior isn’t acceptable.
