After all the uncouth things some of my colleagues had to say about the beautiful people of India today, I found it a blessing to learn about a very unique and precious child from this great land; her name is Jyoti Amge.
Jyoti is a special creation of a God who has a warm, magnetic personality and smile that cannot be contained by her small stature. At just under 2-feet-tall, Jyoti is the smallest girl on Earth.
Little Jyoti is 15-years-old and just like many girls her age, maintains an active life. She has a form of dwarfism known as achondroplasia. Jyoti will not grow any taller, but this does not get her down.
>Jyoti uses a miniaturized plate and utensil set and dresses herself in specially crafted clothing each day, so she may join each of her classmates in school.
The story of Jyoti is truly special and it’s great to see that despite her small stature, this child is full of life and is loved and respected by her parents and peers, just the way it should be.
God’s love extends to all people and all cultures, great and small, and does not discriminate against anyone as some may have you believe. The story of this young girl also has another lesson.
In life we may complain about our condition or how things have turned; some people blame others, others beat up themselves. Some even curse God.
That’s the wrong way to look at things. In life, you will have your ups and downs. The best thing to do is stay encouraged and always look up, because in the grand scheme of things, you have no reason to look down and out. Things can always get better, and I feel this is especially true if you put your faith in the Lord.
The main thing to remember, just as our lovely friend Jyoti will tell you, it’s imperative to always look up and seize life for all it’s worth.
