Plus, I am challenging your analogous comparison of the Christian church (in all of its vast denominations that accommodate many different view points of the faith) to that of the remnants of Ancient China that were still lingering in the 1800s. It just doesn't fit. By the way I'm pretty sure that what people need hasn't changed in at least the last 5,000 years. Even though we have modern technology and supposed "new ideas" the truth is our basic needs have not changed since our creation and I'm pretty sure that Christ can teach me more about how to live a fulfilling life better than you or anyone else can (but that's just my opinion...and belief). Oh and as for the "boner" the church holds for the past I don't think you are going to persuade people to join your point of view by using juvenile terminology because the people you are trying to convince are not all idiot religious bigots like you might think...and that goes for you too Claire. Yes God is intolerant of the very things that harm and destroy his children. If I had a violent drunkard son I would set boundaries and establish rules with consequences to first help him but secondly to protect my other children and other people as well BECAUSE I AM INTOLERANT of anything or anyone who poses a threat to the well being of others individually and also for the sake of the greater populous. ....but you see God,Our Father has already established these boundaries and rules with consequences and yet inspite of how much it greives him to sit back and watch us destroy ourselves He has tremendous patience and pours out His grace because He does not delight in punishing or destroying His "drunkard son" or in other words those who disobey ignorantly or willfully.
