NBC Helps Celebrate Black History Month
This semester I’ve had the excellent experience of being an intern at NBC studios in New York. It has been very eye-opening and taught me the inner-workings of media production.
Outside that world, however, is the world in which we live; the world that us people in the entertainment and media business must capture, process and bring back to the homes and lives of each person.
This month is Black History month, a month in which we celebrate the contributions of African-Americans to our country. AAs have certainly made great contributions, from peanut butter, to blood banks to gas masks for our soldiers.
Their contributions are too many to list, but one thing we can do this month to help celebrate their contributions is in day-to-day life. Our lead chef at 1 NBC put this thought in my head by offering a neat menu in which AAs are given a special discount this month on the foods they love to eat.

The chicken was really good and I can’t wait to see what is on the menu for tomorrow. AA cuisine is not the healthiest, but is really good.
At any rate, happy Black History Month and hopefully we see more people helping to celebrate just like this.

I don’t see why the blacks get their own month. It is not fair or Constitutional.

” doesnt harm anyone”
i agree with you – but thats not entirely true – it did hurt smurfs.
smurfs had submitted their plans for making February “blue little people history month”
smurfette, being the only female little blue person gave an impassioned speech on why they deserve to promote their history of bold adventuring and fighting off gargamel, but they were denied on account they all look the same, have little or no women (smurfette was eventually slain while exercising her feminism by joining the u.s. armed services in iraq), being a drug culture (smurfberries are a class 2 controlled substance) and not being allowed into restaurants for not wearing a shirt.
being created by a french belgian didn’t help either.
