94-year-old Hazel Soares of San Leandro, California has proven that it’s never too late to pursue your dream. She and 500 other students graduated from Mills College in Oakland in a commencement ceremony held on Saturday.
Soares has dreamed of obtaining a college education ever since graduating from high school in 1932. At that time the country was in the throes of the Great Depression, so her dreams were put on hold.
Two marriages, six children, and over 40 grandchildren and great-grandchildren later, she has graduated with a degree in art history and hopes to get a job as a docent in a San Francisco museum as soon as possible.
She hopes that her story will inspire others, young and old, to pursue their dreams.http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100516/ap_on_re_us/us_graduating_at94;_ylt=AoYbLa5ZsdHNO9QcgveNcbus0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTJmMmV0NjFvBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMTAwNTE2L3VzX2dyYWR1YXRpbmdfYXQ5NARwb3MDNQRzZWMDeW5fbW9zdF9wb3B1bGFyBHNsawNjYWxpZm9ybmlhd28-
