Alan Downing’s Radical Therapy Cures Jews of Homosexuality With Nudity, Intimate Contact

For Christians, there have always been a great number of resources to cure unwanted homosexual desires. From priestly counsel to camping trips like those provided by “Adventures in Manhood,” men guided by Jesus Christ have found many ways to break free of urgent same-sex obsessions. For those of the Jewish faith, there is one group that stands out: JONAH, which stands for Jews Offering New Alternatives to Homosexuality.
JONAH was founded by Wall Street titan Arthur Abba Goldberg in 1998 to help children who had become overwhelmed by the dangerous, dark world of the gay lifestyle with its alluring mix of chest-hairy leathermen and wisecracking drag queens, sodomy and nightclubbing. Homosexuality itself is of particular concern for the Jewish people because overbearing, overprotective and belligerent mothers are so commonplace within that ethnicity. There is also much emphasis put on the child’s sensuality in that religion, with boys being more apt to pursue arts than athletics, romance languages over American history, lithe bodies over muscles. It is no surprise then that there are many Jewish homosexuals today. Despite their numbers, they are still considered quite a “prize” in the gay world and are especially fetishized for their access to the best doctors and accountants around.
As stated on their website, “JONAH believes that homosexuality is a learned behavior and that anyone can choose to disengage from their same-sex sexual fantasies, arousals, behavior and identity – if motivated and supported in that process. We also believe that with appropriate assistance, same-sex attractions can be reduced or eliminated followed by the subsequent development of one’s innate opposite-sex attractions.”
Alan Downing is one of the primary life coaches at JONAH and the group Journey into Manhood. His methods for working with the Jewish community have always been hands on and personal. He breaks down barriers by getting to know his patients intimately. One progressive element of his therapy is to get young male patients to strip down in front of a mirror in his office and play with their genitalia. While this may sound like it borders on the homosexual, it does not. Even though Mr. Downing himself has suffered from Same Sex Attraction (SSA), he does not do this for his own excitement, but simply to help young men. One patient described his session with Mr. Downing in this way:
“He was encouraging me, “It’s okay Ben, you can take your shirt off’…here was a man that was much older than me, and I was around 20. At that point, I was just staring at a mirror with my shirt off and he was right behind me staring at the mirror with me at my body. Then telling me to look at my body and feel my body. In Downing’s Journey into Manhood therapy group, therapists have set up a “Cuddle Room,” a private cabin where men struggling with same-sex sexual attraction can engage in intimate “homoerotic exercises“ to rid themselves of gay desire. Whether you’re Jewish or Christian, many experts agree that exploring confidential and penetrating male contact may be the only way to realize how painful and disgusting it is.
This is a lesson that many on the outside have yet to learn. Critics like Wayne Besen, Executive Director of Truth Wins Out, were quick to jump on Mr. Downing when news of his nude treatments leaked to the liberal media:
“These dysfunctional, unscientific programs are rife with sexual impropriety and need to be shut down. Too often, repressed ’ex-gay’ quacks pretend they are trying to get into your head when they are really trying to get into your pants. They call what they do reparative therapy, but it’s more like re-perv-ative therapy… How ironic that therapists that claim to cure homosexuals keep ending up naked with their gay clients. Such lurid exploitation has moved from a disconcerting pattern to a full-blown trend and it needs to be investigated by the authorities.“ –Wayne Besen, Truth Wins Out.
It is sad to see successful, trusted therapeutic methods being attacked in such a way. Psychology has always stood on the idea that we must strip ourselves bare and confront out worst fears. We have to be brave and face up to our challenges like men. Sometimes this means scaling an imposing mountaintop or confronting a troubling element of our past. Whatever the challenge, Americans need to learn strength not weakness. As a nation, we can only survive if we innovate and grow. Unfortunately, the homosexuals of America have no respect for this patriotic ethos. They have an unseemly lust to spread their dysfunction, to claim more Jews into their lifestyle. For them, Jewish gays are just another precious commodity to throw over their shoulders like some cashmere sweater as they stroll down the beach of debauchery.

This article was almost convincing (sarcasm), throw in some quotes for the cause while exacerbating only one quote that is against and then ending it with a comparison to the Nazi’s. I’m sold. I am a studying psychology right now and I can tell you that you clearly do not understand what ‘stripping yourself bare and confronting our worst fears’ really means. Psychodynamic perspective of psychology, it works with the subconscious.
This fellows practices are unethical and will not be accepted as a standard practice and no its not because its a Christian that is behind it, it is because firstly there isn’t enough scientific basis for it to be counted as true, secondly even if there was this article doesn’t back it up properly enough and thirdly it goes against the standard moral conduct of society.
