Can Opossums Save Medicare?
After decades of Medicare benefit erosion Doctors are turning away Medicare patients in favor of self paying or more adequately insured patients. Our nation’s elderly, have supped on the teat of medical service animals like dogs and those hov-a-rounds everyone has these days to the point the system is unable to pay for a visit to the doctor.
What is needed is an alternative to the smelly dog service animal for the blind, hearing impaired or those in danger of seizures. As our friend Pearl illustrates in the video below, opossums are easily obtained and have body temperatures too low to incubate the rabies virus!
Take a look and see if you agree that opossums could be the savior of Medicare for the many elderly citizens that depend on it.

Interesting find BB. Nothing I hate more than having to sit in a restaurant on a rainy day at the table next to a wet dog.
This is 11 articles in 1 day. Is that a record?

I really don’t know if it is a record, but I guess it is a blessing? I only donated two articles, so I think the whole fellowship must be on a roll.
Service dogs are costly. Opossums cost very little and will eat dead carrion, which is cheap too. I really think they could prove to be viable alternative to the expensive breeding and training of dogs.

Dude, if I was stalking anyone it would make more sense for it to be you, considering how, you know, I replied to YOUR post rather than BLANCHE’S article…
And once again, you’re avoiding the issue. You apparently don’t give a crap about people who need service animals, nor do you care about the service animals either. Why hate smelly dogs?

Yes I have something against wet smelly dogs. Just last week we were at the broiler enjoying a nice meal. A family walked in and their teenage girl had a Chihuahua in her purse type bag. It made some noises so we maintained it to the waiter. The waiter then told them that the dog had to leave the restaurant per state health regulations. The family informed the manager that this was a “service” animal as their daughter has “separation anxiety” when not with her dog.s
Now I know some people have a need for service animals, but why only consider dogs, why not cats, opossums, dolphins are very smart as are monkeys, what about people? There are unemployed people all over the place that could be of service to the disabled.
And yes, you seem to stalk certain peoples articles.

I’m pretty sure she located in California. She’s wearing only one earring in the video, which is all the rage out there. I read about this in Vogue.

Dude, give the poor dogs a break. It’s not as though they requested to be put in the service of people. That being said, people need to show documentation proving that their dog is an actual service dog.
“why not cats, opossums, dolphins are very smart as are monkeys”
Cats can be trained, though nowhere near as well as dogs, and are much more able to wriggle out of harnesses. Cats are usually used in nursing homes or hospitals to cheer up patients (and sometimes, in the case of Oscar, predict their deaths), as are small dogs. Opossums, while I personally have nothing against them, are often viewed as dirty, or as “giant rats”, and sightings of opossums are often accompanied by shrieking. As for dolphins, I refuse to believe that anybody is stupid enough to think that aquatic mammals can be used as service animals. Monkeys are used as service animals (small New World monkeys, not Old World monkeys like chimps and gorillas). It is hard to get a license for them, though. Due to their thumbs, they are capable of helping disabled people do things like open doors, open lids, etc.
“And yes, you seem to stalk certain peoples articles.”
Maybe it’s because you have a boner for Blanche so I know that I’ll find you jacking off to anything she writes.

NPR made it seem like the sea level is rising so fast I think it’s silly not to look to dolphins for help adapting.
Yes I don’t blame the dogs, but the owners. I’m not exactly a dog person though. But I am sick of those little dogs everywhere.

So what you’re saying is that once the water level has risen so much that humans are living, eating, sleeping, and going to work underwater with wetsuits and little oxygen tanks, dolphins will be of use as service animals? While I’m glad that you’ve acknowledged that climate change is very real, we won’t be living underwater for quite some time. So when we’re talking about providing services for disabled people in the here and the now, we’re not talking about dolphins.
How can you be sick of little dogs everywhere? They have as much right to be on this earth as humans do.

Yes according to the nut on NPR this am, he said we could be living underwater by 2014. Being I am at 2000 feet, that doesn’t bode well for most people.
Yes The little dogs are being carried everywhere by people. Grocery stores, restaurants, Nordstrom’s, movie theatres. It’s out of control. These people are the problem http://www.swankpets.com/
