Tragedy continues in Japan, as the earthquake and tsunami struck nation tries to recover in the midst of chaos. More troubling news in recently, as the Fukushima reactor 3 plant exploded. Official reports detail six workers were injured in the blast and there is one good thing about the blast: it seems the wind direction will cause any potential nuclear radiation to blow toward sea instead of further inland.
Unit 2 is still the greatest concern and Japan has asked USA for maximum assistance in not only stabilizing the nuclear facility, but in the nation’s ongoing rescue and relief effort for survivors of this horrendous tragedy.
So far, it is known that over 10,000 people died as an immediate result of the initial 8.9 magnitude earthquake and following tsunami. This number will likely and unfortunately rise, as many cities are reporting thousands to tens of thousands currently missing.
