Liberal policy has lead to humiliation for one student in Ohio, after a required teaching moment on black history left a child feeling humiliated and exploited.
A teacher of history at Chapelfield Elemetary School held a mock slave auction in her class, where each student was to learn the history of slavery through hand-on reenactment.
The class was broken into two classes: “Masters” and “Slaves”. The elementary students then had to act out the parts. Within the classes population of students were two black children, one who was able to play “Master” and the other one who was forced to be “Slave”, against his will.
The slave student, Nikko Bruton, immediately felt humiliated. When he initially protested, he was told he would be punished if he did not participate. The ten-year-old child was then forced to allow his classmates to strike his thighs to see if he was ‘buy worthy’ and look in his mouth, digging at his teeth to see his worth.
The child was still disciplined for initially refusing to participate in the reenactment, not wanting to be poked, prodded, and humiliated before his peers.
“I ended up being a slave,” Nikko sadly reported in interview. “At first I didn’t care, but after people were bidding on people it kind of made me a little mad and stuff.”
Nick was hurt because in addition to himself getting in trouble, the students in the class were repeatedly told they needed to pick at and touch the ‘Slaves’ to see if they had any worth and should be purchased.
“The masters go to touch people and do all sorts of stuff,” Nikko stated. “They got to look in your mouth and feel your legs and stuff and see if you’re strong and stuff.”
Nikko’s mother, Aneka Burton, is strongly upset and feels the entire situation is racist.
She reports that since the incident, students continue to call imply Nikko is a “Slave” and make degrading remarks to him. This lesson in history has opened up a level of racism, humiliation and hurtful antics in the mind of these children. What went wrong in this liberal lesson?
In the face of this case, a spokeswoman from the school district stated this is all part of a required curriculum in Ohio. By those lines, every black kid in Ohio should have the honor of getting to play Slave, without recourse by the school district.
It should be patently obvious that if a kid does not want to play “Slave” in school, that it should be end of story. Now, a ten-year-old is having his Civil Rights violated because a teacher wanted to force him to play Slave.
The child is being racially abused because Democrat policy in Ohio requires differentiation between races. There is the call for specialized teaching for differences between the races, when in reality, we should not be separated by color but bonded by the ties of humanity and national classification. Every citizen of this nation is American.
Nikko Bruton is a victim of the liberal policy of institutionalized segregation. On paper, segregation is illegal. But there are still practices and policies that are encouraging an element of segregation to be rooted in our national subconscious, our cultural psyche.
This case in Ohio is just one of many examples. Actor Morgan Freeman put the issue to eloquent, clearly defined terms when asked if he wanted to celebrate Black History Month.
