It is being reported that great 80′s wrestling star Randy Macho Man Savage is dead.

Savage who’s God given name was Randy Mario Poffo, suffered a heart attack Friday morning while driving and lost control of the vehicle. Macho Man was 58.

Savage became a cultural figure for wrestling as well as being a spokesman for Slim Jim’s and an actor who most notably starred in the first “Spider-Man” film, where he beat the heathen out of the little sinful “spidey”.

Wrestling is known as one of the most homo-gay friendly sports in the world but Macho Man stood up to that image and punched it in the face and elbow bombed it from the top rope. Most notably in the late 1980′s when ever Hulk Hogan ripped off his shirt Macho Man was there to beat him for it.

Macho Man was always accompanied by his wife and manager Elizabeth Ann Hulette, aka “The Lovely Miss Elizabeth”, she died in 2003.

Once can imagine Macho Man standing at the pearly gates yelling “I’m coming to join you Elizabeth” much like Red Foxx in Samford and Son.

Soon, Macho Man, we’ll be there too. You just got there one day ahead of us…praise Jesus for the rapture coming tomorrow. We’ll all be there soon!

Praise Jesus, Hallelujah!

I guess God loved him so much that he decided to take Macho Man up there with the angels a day before the Rapture.

May God bless him, he’ll be right beside the archangel Michael waiting to rain some pain upon demons and heathens.

  • I did not know him as a wrestler. Before he took it up he was a Baseball catcher that played 4 seasons with the Cardinals, Reds and White Sox. He played 289 games in four seasons, batting .254 with 16 homers and 66 RBIs.

Larry Herndon was a teammate of Randy. He is now a batting coach of the Class A Lakeland Flying Tigers. Herndon said Poffo used to swing a bat into a hanging car tire as a regular training exercise in order to strengthen his hands and make sure he utilized his legs during swings. The technique was so effective that Herndon adopted it from Poffo and still uses it with his Lakeland players to this day.

Herndon said he and Poffo remained friends and spoke from time to time over the years, although they hadn’t visited since the mid-1990s when Herndon was a coach in Detroit and Poffo was performing there. Herndon took his son to see Poffo perform in a 1990 WWF event in San Jose, Calif., and said he and his son were in awe of the size and excitement of the event, with his former roommate playing the starring role.
“He always had a big heart,” Herndon said. “He was a man who really loved life and loved people.”

Bret “The Hitman” Hart, praised Macho Man as the only wrestler who took his job seriously. While “The Hitman” is a Canadian, I think he used American work ethic in and out of the ring, so I believe he is a great supporter of the Amazing Christian, “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Rest In Peace, Sir. You are a man among men. Please tell Miss Elizabeth that I didn’t mean to goose her at Wrestlemania 12, I was just walking by.

    • So, Bruce, you got a few minor details wrong. Randy Savage was not Christian, he was Jewish. Don’t believe me? Here is an excerpt from the Wikipedia page.

Poffo was born in Columbus, Ohio, the elder son of Judy and Angelo Poffo. His father was Italian American and his mother was Jewish.
