Jon McNaughton: Portrait of a Christian Hero
Over a few week period we will be honoring ten of the greatest Christian heroes with a short 30 second read.
In our last report we profiled one of the greatest politicians in American history.
This time we profile someone who literally paints for freedom.
History
Jon McNaughton was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. At the age of fourteen his family migrated to Utah. He went on to attend Brigham Young University on a full tuition art scholarship. He now paints for a living and is one of the more prominent Christian artists in the world. He is the only living artist in the world today that paints in French Barbizon Impressionism. Prior to World War One French Barbizon was the most sought after type of art in the world.

Jon McNaughton’s One Nation Under God
Christian Values
His artwork depicts strong Caucasian Christian morals. His themes center on God, faith, trust, our founding fathers, church history, our current corrupt and illegal President, and Godly nature.
Jon McNaughton offers an apprentice program so he can spread the word through his followers.
From his bio on his web site:
I prefer to paint pictures that I believe have relevance to what is going on in the world, that make a statement, that stand for something. I hope people will study the paintings and try to understand the deeper meaning. Some of the themes are controversial, but feel strongly about that is happening in our world today.
Controversy
McNaughton recently withdrew all of his artwork from his alma mater after BYU refused to sell one of his pictures on the grounds it was racist.
Many independent art critics see a latent lesbianism in his artwork; similar trends have been seen in artwork of Charles Manson and K.D Lang. Some have called his artwork “an inspiration for KKK paint by number Preschoolers”
After reading his statements on his blog a popular Christian web journalist called him “a pompous As$”
From his blog, he “rarely delves into politics”, yet he proceeds to be political at all times:
As I look at the coming nineteen months leading up to this crucial election, I feel that my purpose as an artist will be to wake up as many people to our situation as possible. Most people are visual learners and I want to express what I believe in a way that is clear and unmistakable. As Americans, we must protect our liberties as defined in the Constitution and make the kind of responsible choices that will guarantee a future for our children and grandchildren.May God help us as we strive to rebuild this country
Rumors that he is on a government watch list for terror are ridiculous and are completely unfounded.
Redemption
While we were not able to reach him for comment, anonymous sources have said he has re-found his faith with the help of FDLS founder and former BYU president Warren Jeffs. Sources also indicate he may have taken an additional wife keeping in the true traditions of the Mormon faith.
His artwork is available at online retailers for $15, however I have been able to purchase signed artwork for under $3 on eBay (plus $2 shipping).

I am on a waiting list for his latest work. I really find the explanations helpful. Since my area of expertise is not art, I need Mr. McNaughton’s esoteric knowledge to understand these paintings.
In “One Nation Under God”, the young mother with the child on her lap is reaching out to Jesus, instead of evil government entitlement programs. The immigrant in the lower left hand corner is shielding his eyes from Jesus’s light of judgment for entering the United States illegally. This type of art is what has endeared him as a true patriot for freedom lovers everywhere.
Fantastic article, August! Praise Click!

While I don’t agree with his racism or his polygamist lifestyle. He has done wonders in exposing the true satanic worshiping nature of our false-god Kenyan president.
from a previous post:
“I purchased an original painting from this artist on the eBays second hand. It was a signed and numbered #1 original. It was about $4 but they charged ridiculous shipping and handling. It’s in the guest den. It’s pretty controversial. We’ve had some guests ask to have it taken down while they stay. I like it, some consider it racist and unpatriotic to depict Obama in such a light, but I see it as an expression of the artists upbringing and polygamist roots.”

Never heard of him, but now I wish I had sooner! How is that painting of the Founding Fathers with Jesus supposed to be racist? It seems like liberals today will use any excuse to attack someone with REAL values. Well, I found this article enlightening, August. I really do appreciate your bringing this person to our attention. I should thank Blanche too, I missed that previous piece. It’s so very hard to find good, patriotic American art these days. Be well, Stephenson.
