Has God Forgotten America?
Throughout the eternal expanse of time, empires have risen and they have fallen. The kingdoms of man have been forged upon trust, deceit, power and ingenuity. The imaginations of a people able to thrust a civilization into legendary status, the effects of its civics and technology forever changing the very face and course of humanity.
But in the grand march of humanity, the very brilliance that allows us to learn more and more has also been our undoing. With the knowledge of good comes the knowledge of evil, and with that knowledge, comes the ability to bring enough disgrace before God that we are all condemned to burn in hell, forever.
We are truly living in cruel days, evil hours. Take a look at the news. The world is in in peril, nations clamoring about in a state of near war and only worrying about their paltry greed. Our economy falls, in shambles, and our politicians can only care about getting themselves and their party members reelected, even at the expense of destroying the very government that ensures our way of life.
Greed is the primary motivation for the acts of all nations: compassion and mercy is only a secondary thought, one secured only by a nation’s assurance that it will have continued wealth.
And in this mess, we have the United States of America. A great nation forged by men with vision enough to create a more perfect union, a new social experiment that was designed to grow and change with the needs of society. The American government was to be stable and reverent to the people it served, evolving laws over time to serve our very needs.
But in this process, again, knowledge of evil has emerged. Men learned to use the laws of Democracy to gain evil rights: gay marriage, stem-cell research, Muslim apologetics and subservience to the very European nations that God left long ago, for their insolence and lust of power.
My friends, today, we must ask ourselves one important question: Has God Forgotten America?
President Lincoln warned us before his death:
“We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown.
But we have forgotten God.
We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom of our own.
Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud of pray to the God that made us!”
And those words still hold true. In New York, politicians have defied the Old Testament of the Bible, even as catastrophic hurricanes roared from the heavens in warning, all so gays could join each other in union. We have forgotten God.
In 1962, the Supreme Court of America banned prayer in public school. Since that time, children have fallen. During the 60s, they turned to hard, illicit drugs and selling their bodies in perverted orgies. Their diseased husks were used up more in the 70s, popping out the very children who would become the crack addicts of the 80s and early 90s. Our youths in this nation are largely destroyed, and so many black men in prison, because one fact. America, we have forgotten God.
In 2009, we all watched as a man born unto a Muslim took seat in the White House. Since he has Lorded over this nation, which was founded by men who appreciated Christian tradition and acknowledged our Creator in their Declaration of Independence, we have lost our perfect credit rating. America has had to beg the Chinese, their eyes squinted in greed and conniving calculations, to bail out our economy. We bow before the children of Buddha because one reason: our nation has forgotten God.
Look at popular culture, science, philosophy and law. America has fallen away from its roots as a Christian nation with a Godly heritage. We have shied away from our respect of God. We pay tribute to the defiant atheism of Europeans, them thinking their minimal knowledge of science places God in a box, the proverbial God of the Gaps. We teach our children to fawn for ridiculous theories by crazed egocentric men with God complexes such as Neil deGrasse Tyson and the delusional Richard Dawkins.
Friends, we allow people to murder babies in the womb. How can God support a nation that has fallen so far from grace.
The angels in heaven weep. They weep not because we have ascended to a stronger relationship with Christ, but rather, because we have fallen away from our responsibility to be the light to a fallen, unsaved world.
We feel that our power is something we built ourselves. Let us not forget only 80 years ago, we were in a depression much like today. During that time, we allowed fornicators to roar through the 1920s, spilling illegal beer and communist theories in speakeasys all through the nation. We voted another maniac into office, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who fornicated his cousin with one hand while signing alcoholism back into law with another.
Be warned, wine is a mocker and so is our culture. We are drunk with arrogance, America. But in our drunken stupor, we are offended the very being who created you, this country and all life. In our arrogance, we are having our hearts hardened and we are losing focus of what it means to be a good Christian. We are forgetting about fellowship, compassion and love. We are forgetting about duty and overcoming differences to achieve a greater good.
And that is why God is forgetting America. He forgets us because every day, we are losing a piece of him. We do not pray before every meal. We do not thank Him for the precious things in life: a home, our healthy, our family and a country blessed enough to allow free speech and no bombs raining down upon our cities day after day.
Be warned, America. Our life can turn worse if we do not turn back to God and embrace what he has given us with thanks and fearful admiration. What we have is precious and we must not ruin it.
Let us remember God today, friends. Kneel before him and pray. Quickly close your eyes and say a thanks. It is not until we as a society again get over our arrogance and remember what it means to be a true, loving Christian nation that we will see ourselves out of this economic rut and societal downfall. To rise up, we must lift up our hands, heart and hands to the Lord, and give him thanks.
