Muscian Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi) Blogs On Teen Fan Ben Breedlove with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Ben Breedlove is a teenager who suffered from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and passed away the day after Christmas.  Breedlove was a fan of muscian Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) and recently had posted several videos, in which he discussed living with his condition at such a young age and also how he had ‘cheated’ death over three times.  Ben Breedlove also talked about one of the things he enjoyed in life:  the music of Kid Cudi.

Hypertrophic is marked by abnormal enlargement of the heart muscle and it was this condition that took the life of 18-year-old Ben Breedlove.  But despite this, his message has now reached millions of people, including a man who is a fan of the courageous outlook Breedlove had on his life.  This man’s name, and this fan of Ben Breedlove, is Kid Cudi.

Kid Cudi posted on his blog “Cud Life” on Dec. 26th:

I am so sad about Ben Breedlove. I watched the video he left for the world to see, and him seeing me in detail, in his vision really warmed my heart. I broke down, Iam to tears because I hate how life is so unfair. This has really touched my heart in a way I cant describe, this is why I do what I do…Thank you for loving me. To Ben’s family, you raised a real hero, he’s definately mine. You have my love.

 

Hero.  That is the term Cudi accurately used to describe Ben and other young people like him.  It is tough to understand why in this great and advanced world of ours, why some lives are taken so young and people must suffer.  Some may believe that it is all random, a simple matter of chance, chemical and science.  Others may believe it has something to do with faith.  I’m here to say that in situations like this, the beliefs are trivial.

What we can talk about is character.  To have such character in the face of death, to look for inspiration and to reach out to others, is admirable.  For a young man of only 18 to have an impact on the lives of others, including one of his favorite musicians, is a thing of character.  And looking at these videos, I like the character of this young man.
