100 Reasons America is Greater than Wherever you Come From

August your list needs some reworking. Just to point out you actually reuse a number of items just phrased slightly differently so it isn’t even 100 things mentioned. I would not be proud of many of these if I were you. A number of the stated reasons are in fact why you are ridiculed by the rest of the world. Some you can’t take credit for.

Shock and awe – I take it you are referring to the doctrine written by Ullman and Wade. Although that is technically a product of the National Defense University (felt dirty spelling defence with an ‘s’ too american.) of the US you can’t claim it. Sarah Palin – No. Nothing to be proud of.

Re-electing George W Bush – Shameful. The world still ridicules the man and are stunned by the fact you re-elected him.

Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Nukes (you used them), Fat Man and Little Boy – Definitely not something to gloat about killing lots of innocent children, women and men. The Japanese were on the verge of surrendering there is some evidence that they had even written up their surrender BEFORE the bombs were dropped. Still controversial decision to this day.

Flag on the Moon – First thing to be proud of.

Indiana Jones – Fair enough you’ve made a few good movies but all down to preference. My favourite movies are British made comedies.

The Suicide Squeeze – A baseball play? Really? Google baseball it evolved from games played over here in England. Baseball is an English Sport at heart.

Trail of Tears – Forcing the Native Americans from their land is nothing to be proud of.

Texas – Ridiculed globally.

Guns, Second Amendment, Smith and Wesson NRA – Can’t take credit for all guns. firearms themselves were invented in 12th century China, also there are a number of countries where you can legally own a gun. Ease of access is nothing to brag about.

Rush Limbaugh – Admittedly didn’t really know who this was but seems like your typical conservative american moron.

Thanksgiving – Good to give thanks.

Jeep, SUV’s – Petrol guzzling off-roaders that are used mainly by people with no need to and very rarely do go off-road. There are also various versions created by different countries.

WW2, Won two world wars in a single century – No you didn’t you were on the winning side and helped win twice in a single century and nothing more. Also those wars were two of the most horrific wars fought no one should look back on them with pride.

Fracking – A process used by various oil companies from around the world. Not an American thing also has various serious environmental concerns. Don’t feel pride.

Sports – Has been around longer than the US

God – The concept has been around longer than the USA. Even Christianity is older than the US. Can’t claim this one either.

Proper English – The clue is in the English part. Proper English is British English because that’s where it originates from.

Cheerleaders – I shall let this one go.

American Housewives – How’s the American housewife differ from any other housewife? Housewives of other nations are even stereotypically more devoted to the family if that is what you were suggesting.

Ronald Regan – Meh. Big deal. Looked up his approval ratings as well seems like statistically you weren’t that impressed either a career average approval rating of 57% and retrospective of 64% isn’t really that good.

American Bacon – Nothing to say on this topic.

Bing – a pathetic search engine hardly anyone uses.

American Revolution – Declaring independence well done. Not much to say on the matter. Doesn’t make you better than any other country, many of which have done exactly the same thing at one point in history.

Amy Grant – Some Christian song writer apparently no big deal.

Patton – An impressive general yes.

Fox News – Globally ridiculed

Freedom that makes you jealous – more than a few countries share the same level of freedom as America.

Microsoft – has done a lot yes

Freedom Fries – refusal to call French Fries by that name is a bit pathetic

Manifest Destiny – Has been used to justify wars and it is a phrase that generally only refers to the spreading of the American People across the continent.

Aircraft Carriers – Used by multiple countries. The first example of the standard aircraft carrier was the HMS Angus, a BRITISH Ship. There goes that claim.

Comfortable and tough cars that get 12MPG – Around the world car manufactures work on creating comfortable and tough cars. America is not alone in that respect. As for 12mpg that isn’t impressive nor is it economical you’d spend a fortune running a car like that.

Off shore drilling – Globally done by oil companies from many different nations.

The V8 – Original patent of a V8 engine belongs to Léon Levavasseur who was French.

Republican Party – Globally ridiculed.

Homes have more than 1 TV – Same can be said for many other countries.

We don’t use the metric system – Although you officially are the only industrialised country not to adopt the metric system as its official system of measurement you are not alone. Over here in Britain for example we only partially adopted it.

NASCAR – Multiple different stock car racing events exist outside the US.

Boeing – Let it slide as it is the largest GLOBAL aircraft manufacturers but others exist outside the US.

Sherman Tank – Might be an american model but tanks such as the Sherman Tank are developed from the early WWI models developed simultaneously by the UK and France.

Internet Explorer – probably the worst internet browser going.

Gitmo – Very controversial because of its detention camp and neglecting the Geneva Conventions.

Baseball – A slightly altered version of an English game.

You don’t use your children as child-soldiers – very few countries do. It is only really guerilla groups that do this and it is generally seen in a very bad light.

American (fake) Football – Football should be played predominantly with feet the clue is in the “foot” part of football. Has its origins in football (soccer) apparently which can be seen in earliest forms as a military exercise in 2nd century BC China and Rugby which is British.

You “killed” Communism – The idea still exists. There are still countries that claim to be communist. Also it collapsed on its own. Can’t work in practice.

Nevada Test Site – Other countries have places where they test nuclear weaponry. Nuclear weapons are nothing to gloat about.

Kellen Moore – Not impressed by an American football player.

Arby’s – Fast food causing obesity is nothing to be proud of

Saturn V – yep impressive

Hemi Engines – a V8 engine with a hemispherical combustion chamber. Neither are American designs.

You own Facebook – Privately owned. America can’t ttake credit for it

Tamed your Indians to not build nukes or speak gibberish at call centers – Racist remark this in more than one way.

Buzz Aldrin is allowed to punch liberals in the face – He isn’t. He was provoked into punching a conspiracy theorist in the face one time. If he went around punching people he’d get arrested.

We have no idea what happens in your country, but we’re your front page news every day – a) If you had no idea what is going on in other countries how would you know you regularly were on our news b) Sorry to burst your bubble but America is hardly ever mentioned in the news let alone front page news. Only really mentioned in passing if it involves our own country in some way or on an international news segment. c) We live in an age where the whole world is connected you should have some idea of global events.

Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter – A piece of fiction, really something to be jealous of. You chose that specific piece as well, not read it but hardly seems like it is going to be the greatest of literary works.

The almighty dollar – like all economies the US economy is suffering due to the GLOBAL recession. Very few countries value the dollar to a greater extent than any other currency. The British Pound is quite popular.

Las Vegas – Commonly referred to as the city of sin. People only really go there for prostitutes, cheep weddings and gambling.

The Internet – The combination of various forms of projects that connect one computer to another from various countries. Interestingly enough the World Wide Web we all know and love, was invented by Tim Berners-Lee who is BRITISH.

Dick Butkus (think you meant Butkus instead of Butkis) – Another American Football player I don’t care about.

We will always remember 9/11 – so will many other nations. It was called the WORLD Trade Centre. Dealt on a global level. Wasn’t only Americans that died in that attack. British citizens lost their lives as well.

World Champions of every sport – Not true

Your people want to come here – Not at all. Only for holidays.

We control all of North America – Not as big a deal as you seem to think.

War on Terror – A war on a concept. War inspires terror. You can’t fight terror. Only in America would it makes sense to fight terror by causing people to become terrified. Also you are not the only country fighting these wars.

Supersized – Obesity and poor health due to poor diet. Also isn’t gluttony one of the seven deadly sins?

Male American Soldier – Often suggested to increase the casualty number of allied troops due to friendly fire.

None of our foreign diseases – America like every country can have an outbreak of any disease.

Make dictators beg for mercy, and then kill them. Regularly – With a lot of help from your allies that you often neglect to mention you have managed to place one or two dictators on an INTERNATIONAL based trial for which they have been sentenced to death.

Christwire – Ridiculed regularly

DOMA – Legal justification for homophobic outlooks towards same-sex marriage

Patriot Act – Possible that it leads to paranoia.

Electric Chair – Horrific way to be sentenced to death and to my understanding it is hardly ever if at all used today.

Kirk Cameron – Seems like your typical homophobic evangelical Christian. They get mocked regularly

Kirk Gibson could beat you all at cricket with no legs – Kirk Gibson plays baseball. Cricket is far more complicated than baseball.

Barbara Bush – Besides being the wife of George H. W. Bush I know little about her nor do I care.

Evel Knievel – Notoriously remembered for failing to land a large number of stunts and breaking 433 bones during his career. Yeah will skip over him in the reasons why America is great shall we?

Charleton Heston – Famous actor yes. Acting skill great enough to prove the US is better than the entire world no.

Left Behind Books – never heard of them not in any hurry to go read a series that is highly Christian and focuses on the end times.

Fraternities – Exist world wide. Both college based fraternities and those existing outside college life.

March Madness – Sudden death basketball tournament interesting concept but doesn’t really scream America is better than all other countries. Similar tournaments exist world wide.

Your flag isn’t gay looking – Many flags can share this claim

Tim Tebow – Yet another American Football player I couldn’t care less about. American Football isn’t vitally important outside America. Yes people like it but not as obsessively as you lot do.

College Life – Usually great. As a current British University student I can vouch for it being pretty awesome in the UK.

No prime minister – President functions as a head of state and a head of government. Prime minister is just the head of government so in that respect your president is your prime minister. Also you are not the only country that doesn’t separate into a head of state and a head of government.

The B-52 Stratofortress – Is not the only bomber out there nor is it guaranteed to be the best. Even if it was finding better ways to kill people is not something to pride yourself on.

Wes Anderson – Has one or two interesting movies under his belt but he is not something that makes America superior to other countries.

We make it for you, even though you invented it – Need to be much more specific here. It is actually cheaper to import almost everything from outside the country than have it manufactured in the country. All countries do this. They export their home-made/grown goods and import goods for a fraction of the price.

Our singers don’t have to sing without an accent, they just sing – Not true. I’ve heard bands from all over the world who sing and you can place where they come from. I have also heard American singers who sing without an accent and found myself quite surprised when hearing on an interview that they have a heavy and distinct accent specific to their home state. I have also experienced American Singers that put on an accent.
