With great grief and sadness we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart. A longtime hero of hardhitting news, Andrew Breitbart’s website Breitbart.com was a major news aggregator and source of breaking news video. His website BigGovernment.com exposed the Weinergate scandal and held Anthony Weiner accountable for his lewd acts, but gave him fair exposure and a chance to speak. What many people do not realize is that the popular liberal blogging site, Huffington Post, is the brainchild of Andrew Breitbart.
Breitbart was an array of talents: he operated multiple hard-hitting websites that demanded respect and authority, he was an activist who was not afraid to challenge the ‘big names’ of the world and most prolific of his unique talents, he was a writer. Breitbart’s pen could quickly expose a scandal or bring some great conservative reason to a out-of-whack bit of left-wing rhetoric.
Andrew Breitbart is survived by his wife and four children.
At time of report, the UCLA medical center and LA coroner’s office do not have a listed cause of death. Breitbart’s website states ‘natural causes’ as the cause of death.
“In a world where it’s tougher and tougher to hear a pure, unfiltered opinion steeped in a brilliant mind and spoke passionately from the heart, the voice and presence of Andrew Breitbart will surely be missed,” said Mike Watson, longtime fan and recent associate of Breitbart.
Several months ago during ChristWire’s tour in Santa Monica, Brytan Blake was contacted by Andrew Breitbart in response to ChristWire’s ongoing coverage of Rachel Maddow’s lack of factural news coverage. Impressed by the work of ChristWire’s interns and writers, Breitbart scheduled a meeting with Blake and Watson to discuss this very website and give guiding points for future development. Right before that meeting, Andrew Breitbart was called to the East coast because his expertise was needed on Fox News’ coverage of several political candidates.
And it’s that type of expertise and respect, when a corporation knows they can call someone and get a hardhitting, fact-checked piece of journalism on the fly, is what Breitbart is known for the most.
We were honored for the mere amount of time we were able to be in contact with Andrew Breitbart, and even more honored for the opinions and postive reviews he gave us about our brand of journalism here. He will truly be missed and this news is terribly tragic.
Thoughts and prayers are with Andrew’s family and close friends during this time. Rest in peace, Andrew, and may angels lead you in.
