Is “Fifty Shades of Grey” Turning Your Wife Into a S&M Slut?
Much has been written about the evils of the Twilight series here at Christwire. We all know how evil that book and movie series is. But it has had such a huge impact on the sin level of America that the sin just keeps spreading. In fact one woman that used to write something called “fan fiction” about twilight, has now written her own book that is setting the loins of America’s women on fire.
E.L. James, is the filthy minded pervert behind this book, that has become a world wide hit. She has penned a disgusting hit that takes a beautiful young pure woman and turns her into a leather clad dominatrix S&M Whorelot. The book is about a sickening misogynist love affair that turns the woman into nothing better than a sex slave.
In the book, the male character, mockingly and insultingly named Christian, finds a young virgin named Ann. He seduces her and makes her fall in love with him. But as they start to date she is told to sign a contract where she agrees to become his sex slave. The language reads like this:
“The Dominant accepts the submissive as his, to own, to control dominate and discipline, for purpose of discipline [and]…for his own personal enjoyment.”
As a woman and as a christian, I find this horribly offensive, and I am not alone. Dr. Drew Pinsky, television personality and board-certified specialist, on his HLN TV show had a group of women that endorsed the book as a love story, and yelled at them saying, “It’s a rape fantasy!”. Pinsky says that the novel is popular for all the wrong reasons”:
Pinsky condemns any attempts to consider the book a love story between two consensual adults, though. Instead, he argues, Christian uses his relationship with Ana to exercise his mind-control capabilities and as more is learned about the characters, it is discovered that, between the lines, the writing is hardly an innocent tale of romance. “We find out in the course of the book that [Christian] was sexually abused,” explained the doctor, “And this is all him acting out his pathology as opposed to it being two consensual adults.”
Radio host Judith Regan, agrees. “I don’t really think it’s erotic. I think it’s kind of porn trash,” She says in a recent interview. She goes on to compare the book to a recent abuse victim that she spoke with. This woman was controlled by her husband and had no independence of her own. She goes on tho say “And that,is pretty much what the relationship in this book is about.”
Because of that, even feminist groups are upset about this book. Feminists are afraid that this book will undo the improvements that women have made in the last 50 years in this country. A new generation of young girls will read this book and think that it is OK to be taken advantage of, treated like a slave and repeatedly raped at the whim of a man that is not your husband.
If so many people hate this book then why is it so popular? In fact it is gaining in popularity every day. There is a “virtual bidding war erupting over the print rights for James’ controversial novel”. It has even topped the New York Times best-seller list here in America, The e-book edition of Fifty Shades of Grey tops bestseller lists at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and The New York Times. And just like all sinful tales it is a three part tale with two more books to be released! Forget about the movie rights, that are sure to come soon.
When will women stop and realize that this is wrong and evil? When feminist groups and christian groups can come together and agree, then people would take notice.

I was raised Christian and prefer to keep that separate from anything relating to sex because I find the church overly obsessed with sex. I prefer to call myself a Deist – someone who believes in God but not religion. As a non-Christian woman. I found this book horrid. I read trash – Nora Roberts, Philippa Gregory. I watch bad reality TV. I am also an educated woman who has a s much of a life as the bad economy allows. I cannot understand why any woman would find this book remotely entertaining. It is badly written. An 8 year old can create better dialog. I found the characters one dimensional. I doubt this heroine was pure if she was ready to jump into bed with some pervert after 72 hours. I think it took that long.
I’m not a prude but the erotic scenes were laughable at best – the relationship was unequal and I really found no redeeming qualities in any of the characters.
The only person I know who enjoyed this is a 21 year old who is psychologically damaged, may have histrionic personality disorder, accuses every one she hates of being pedophiles and probably just thinks I dislike it because she thinks I’m a Christian prude.
This book is repugnant. It glorifies abuse in every form – including abuse of the English language.
I may be a Coast snob but the reviews out here from real women have not been good.
