The Megamillions mess generated by the nearly $600 million prize drawing has many lottery participants bewildered. Several days ago, it was announced that three people in the United States had the winning numbers for Megamillions. But to date, not one person has come forward to claim their prize. This Megamillions mess is making many scratch their heads in confusion, because hey, who is actually going to turn down one third of a $600 million dollar pot?
The three tickets matched all six numbers: 2-4-23-38-46 and the Mega Ball, 23.
One woman who worked at a McDonald’s in Maryland allegedly holds one of the winning tickets and was to contact lottery officials on Monday, per her now envious managers. But the woman never came forward and has not returned calls to us or any other press agency. People speculate if the woman holds the winning ticket and other co-workers of hers are claiming if so, they are owed a piece of the winnings because they bought a mass amount of tickets as a group.
The winners in Illinois and Kansas have not come forward to claim their prize as well. The winner in Kansas, if there is one, can remain anonymous but officials will know when the prize is claimed. In Illinois, the winner must be publicly announced.
If no one comes forward, it can be up to one year before it is to late for them to claim their prize. Some people are now asking if the winning ‘numbers’ generated were flukes from the Megamillions jackpot, so they would not have to give out a nearly $1 billion dollar pot. The plot thickens and the next drawing for Megamillions Tuesday will be down to more respectable levels of wealth from luck.
