  • Hit & Run Driver Fled – One Dead, Infant Clings to Life

    By Rev. Billy Ray Sunday

<chris†wire> Tonight the Smith family of King City, California are asking for your prayers and the California Highway Patrol is asking for your help. Around 7:15 p.m. a hit & run driver collided with two pedestrians at E. San Antonio Drive and Broadway Street in King City. Debra R. Smith, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene, her daughter Kayla, 16 months was airlifted to the King City University Hospital where she has been admitted to the ICU and remains in critical condition.

Debra had left her King City home minutes before they were struck to walk Kayla to the park; Kayla was inside a stroller at the time the collision occurred. According to Officer Eric Hunter with the CHP, witnesses reported seeing the driver speed away moments after striking the victims in the crosswalk.

A witness to the collision pursued the suspect vehicle into a parking lot where the suspect exited his vehicle and ran to the sidewalk to look back at the horror. The witness using his cell phone snapped a photograph of the suspect’s Jeep just before the Jeep fled South on Broadway towards the US 101. The CHP is asking for anyone who recognizes this vehicle or has any information about this felony hit & run to call the CHP at: 1-(800) 334-0002.

The suspect vehicle is described as a late model grey or silver Jeep with a black canvas top, and California plates. The driver is described as a white male, approximately 20 to 25 years, tall and slender. Suspect has brown hair cut short.

CHP is Searching for the Driver of this Hit & Run Vehicle. Both Driver & Vehicle Remain at Large
