• Mexico Tries to Change Name to Canada

    November 23, 2012 6:28 pm 17 comments

Mexican President Felip Calderon has launched a new initiative that would coerce the United States to open its border to the country currently known as Mexico.

Under Calderon’s bold new plan, Mexico’s official name would be switched from The United States of Mexico to simply ‘Canada’. Calderon argues that over time, the fact that over 70% of Americans view Mexico as dangerous, unsafe and unsavory would drastically decrease. He further anticipates that since US law doesn’t specify which ‘Canada’ it has an open border with, by grandfathering precedent, Mexico would have to be allowed to enjoy a fully open border.

Mexicans will vote on the initiative on January 10, 2013.
