Charles Ramsey broke down door to rescue Amanda Berry.
Neighborhood resident Charles Ramsey rescued Amanda Berry, who was reported missing ten years ago. Today media headlines are abuzz with the story and a very interesting hero.
It all started with a sack of McDonalds. Charles Ramsey was at his home, prepared to enjoy a quick meal when he heard screams coming from across the street. Curious, he went outside to investigate and the screaming did not stop.
Instead of turning away like many people would have done or actually did, Ramsey decided to go investigate some more. As he walked up to the house, he feared there may have been an issue of domestic violence going on. The woman was screaming so loud and intently, he wanted to make sure everything was okay.
Ramsey then went onto the porch and noticed a young woman struggling to get out of the house. He tried to open the door, but it would not budge very far. Concern rising, he chose to then kick in the bottom part of the door. Amanda Berry crawled from the home and told Charles Ramsey, “Call 911, I am Amanda Berry.”
Ramsey did not realize it at the time, but he just rescued a young woman who went missing over ten years ago.
Ramsey was only 16-years-old when she went missing. When Ramsey rescued the young woman, she was with a 4-year-old child. Police report other kidnapped people were in the house. At time of report, at least three people were rescued from the home.
According to Ramsey, the owner of the home is known to everyone in the neighborhood. They regularly say hi and have even shared barbeque. It would not have crossed anyone’s mind that the homeowner was harboring such a dark secret.
The video to this case has gone viral, due to the colorful nature of Charles Ramsey’s personality. The media attention may not quite hit him just yet, but by all accounts the man performed a heroic act and should be treated as such.
The quote you will see: “You know something is wrong, when a pretty, little white girl runs into the arms of a black man. Something is definitely wrong here. Definitely wrong.”
