Let’s face it: the Earth is getting warmer. Global warming is a reality. We better figure something out before the day after tomorrow. If the trend in underwear fashion isn’t proof enough, perhaps just our general sense of common sense should be.
Winters around the country have become more sporadic, and the deep freeze winters from childhood are truly just a distant memory. Winter used to mean frost-bitten faces and a hawky gale so cold from the North, that Mike Ditka and the ’85 Bears had to even don wool turtlenecks and long john underwear.
Those cold, brutal winters of the past are giving way to warmer weather trends. We may get a few random, sporadic winter storms (which fit right into global warming theory), but we are seeing summers that are consistently more brutal in heat and longer in duration. Global trends and analysis shows a constantly upwardly mobile climb of thermometers. If we reach some sort of unknown crucial point to where we start an irreversible melting and sliding cycle of our polar ice caps, we may as well kiss our current way of life good-bye.
