Rachel Jeantel has been identified as the young woman Trayvon Martin spoke to the night he was shot in the heart and left for dead by George Zimmerman. Jeantel gave a personal testimony to what she heard on the phone while her friend Trayvon was walking back from a convenience store, in the rain, to his dad’s home in the gated community where George Zimmerman profiled and decided he didn’t belong.
In her interview with Piers Morgan, Jeantel expressed that while he was being stalked by George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin was scared that Zimmerman may have been a rapist. Remember, Trayvon was a 17-year-old kid walking back to his dad’s home, so a creepy car following him and then a man jumping out to follow him would have been terrifying. It is just about how every scary movie where a pervert abducts a child starts, so his ‘don’t talk to strangers’ lessons would likely kick in.
As reported by Mediaite: “‘Jeantel insisted that Martin was “creeped out” and believed Zimmerman was following him, even worrying that he might be a “rapist.” She asked, “For every boy or every man who’s not that kind of way, seeing a grown man following them, would they be creeped out?’”
Explaining why Trayvon Martin then started running from Zimmerman, who refused to identify himself:
RACHEL JEANTEL: “People need to understand, he didn’t want that creepy ass cracka going to his father or girlfriend’s house to go get — mind you, his little brother is there. Mind you I told you, I told Trayvon, [Zimmerman] might have been a rapist.”
There is some speculation and allegations that Zimmerman touched and abused a childhood friend who came to his home, the alleged Witness 9 from the trial. It is unclear on the veracity of the claims, as somehow the information was not allowed in the trial or to be spoken by the media during the trial, but Business Insider claims to have a personal account of those claims.
