HGTV star Heather Rae El Moussa is raising awareness to an autoimmune disease. The tv star reports that she thought she suffered from ‘Mom Brain’, the general exhausted, overwhelmed feeling where you also forgot things. It turns out, however, the symptoms were a part of a major diagnosis.
Heather Rae reported, “I feel like I’m dead. My brain was so tired. My body was so tired. I was exhausted all the time and no amount of sleep could make it better.”
El Moussa recently gave birth and had a child with her husband Tarek El Moussa. In addition to feeling tired, the new mom reported she had a decrease in milk supply. Following the advise of her lactation consultant, El Moussa consulted with her doctor and had bloodwork done. The bloodwork indicated she had Hashimoto’s disease.
Hashimoto’s causes a person’s body to attack its own thyroid gland. Her doctor believes pregnancy may have triggered the condition. After getting medicated, El Moussa reports she now feels much better.
